200 gm sweetened condensed milk
(1/2 a can of condensed milk)
1/2 tbsp ghee
3/4 cup milk powder
A pinch of saffron
1/4 spoon elaichi powder
Pistachios or almonds for garnish
Mix the condensed milk, milk powder and ghee in a microwave safe bowl.
Make sure there are no lumps.
Add elaichi and saffron.
(I soaked a few saffron strands in about 1 tbsp warm milk and added this mixture into the bowl)
Stir and microwave on high power for 1 min. Remove the mixture and stir again.
Microwave again for 30 seconds on high power and check if the mixture is liquid in content, if the texture is loose microwave for another 30 seconder on high power till the mixture thickens.
This procedure takes exactly 2 mins 45 secs in a 900 w power microwave to get the right consistency. If the mixture still has moisture and is of liquid consistency, then microwave again on high power for 15 to 30 seconds more.
When mixture is still warm, grease your palm with little ghee and roll them into small balls. (I removed the mixture while warm and kneaded the mixture into a ball). This is as per an individuals wish, as the peda can be sized to any shape.
Garnish with almonds or any dry fruits of your choice.
