Kavuni arisi Paniyaram

Kavuni arisi or Black rice offers lot of health benefits.  It is gluten-free,  filled with fiber and rich in antioxidants. Kavuni Arisi helps to reduce weight. It has many other health benefits also.

We can use this rice in making variety of foods. If we are cooking this rice it will take very longer time.

I am giving you very simple way of using this rice. I made paniyaram using this rice. You can add chopped shallots, grated carrots or any vegetables of your choice  to make it more tasty and healthy.  let us see how to make this.

Preparation time approx. 15 to 20 minutes

Soaking time 6 to 7 hours

Fermentation time 6 to 8 hours or overnight

Ingredients.

2 cup Kavuni arisi

1 cup boiled rice

3/4 cup whole urad daal

1 tbsp Methi seeds

1/4 cup poha or flattened rice.

Salt to taste.

Seasoning. ( optional)

1 tsp oil.

1/2 tsp mustard seeds

1 tsp channa daal

1 tsp urad daal

1 chopped green chillies

1/4 tsp asafoetida

Chopped curry leaves

Chopped coriander leaves.

Method

Wash and soak all ingredients except poha or flattened rice for 6 to 7 hours or overnight.

Grind it  with poha smoothly. Ferment the batter well.Heat 1 tbsp oil. Add mustard seeds. When it crackle add all other ingredients.  Let the daal become red add asafoetida.  Pour over the batter mix well.

Take a paniyaram pan .Brush with oil. Pour little batter in each mould. Close it with lid. Once done flip it and cook well. Serve with any chutney or sambar of your choice.
