Generally sundal varities are making as prasadams especially during Navarathri or festival seasons. Sundal can be made with different lentils or pulses with or without coconut. Today I made pattani ( dry peas) sundal as prasdam. In this we can add raw mango also .Since I didn’t have mango i omitted this. We can have this sundal a healthy snack. Let us see the method of making this sundal.
Preparation time 10 minutes.
Soaking time overnight.
Ingredients.
1/ cup pattani/ dry peas ( soak over night)
2 tabsp grated fresh coconut
1 tbsp coconut oil or any cooking oil.
1/2 tsp mustard seeds.
1tsp channa daal.
1 tsp urad daal.
1/4 tsp asafoetida.
2 chopped green chillies.
1 piece ginger grated or chopped finely.
Few curry leaves chopped
1 tbsp lemon juice.
Salt to taste.
Few finely chopped coriander leaves.
Method.
Soak the dry peas / pattani over night.
Pressure cook this for 4 whistles adding salt.
In a pan add oil and heat. Add mustard seeds. Let it splutter. Add bothdaals. Keep the stove on medium. Let it become golden colour. Add chopped green chillies, grated ginger chopped curry leaves and hing. Saute nicely. Drain the cooked pattani/ dry peas. . Mix well. Finally add grated fresh coconut and switch of the stove. Add lemon juice and coriander leaves. Mix it.
Opt.. If you want to add raw mango chhop it nicley and add it . Then omit lemon juice.
