Jowar is a gluten-free millet. Jowar is rich in fiber , protein, controls blood sugar levels.
Jowar helps weight reduction. Muttiya is a popular gujarathi dish . I tried muttiya with jowar flour.
It’s very easy and healthy.
Let us see how to make this .
Preparation time approx 30to 40 minutes.
Ingredients.
1 heaped cup jowar flour.
1/3 cup grated cabbage.
1/3 cup finely chopped onion.
1/3 cup chopped coriander leaves
1 tsp ajwain
1 tsp ginger garlic paste
1 tsp chilli powder
1 tsp coriander powder
1tsp jeera powder.
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
Salt to taste
1/4 tsp asafoetida.
1 tsp oil.
For seasoning.
2 tbsp oil.
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp jeera
1 tbsp sesame seeds
Few curry leaves.
Chopped coriander leaves.
Method.
In a mixing bowl add everything except seasoning. Mix very well with hands.
Cabbage and onions may release water. So add water little by little.
Sprinkle water little by little. Make a soft but firm dough.
Make 3 equal portions in the cylindrical shape. Dust little oil. Keep aside.
In a steamer heat water.
Steam cook the 3 cylindrical shape dough. Let it cook for 10 to 12 minutes. Insert a knife and check whether it is cooked.
Remove from the stove.let it cool .
Cut the muttiya’s in to pieces.
Heat the oil in a pan. Spread the oil.
Add mustard seeds. Let it splutter.
Add jeera and sesame seeds. It it fry. Add little curry leaves. Keep the stove on low heat. Arrange the muttiya on the pan. Fry till it become brown. Flip the muttiya cook the other side. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
Serve with green chutney.
