Dosa without rice is healthy and good for people who are controlling their diet. For this recipe, I used urad and moong dal. For those who want to avoid rice, this type of dal dosa is good.
It definitely has lesser calories than a normal dosa. It goes best with any kind of chutney or even ketchup. I have added some vegetables to the batter to make it like uttapam.
We can also make idly using the same batter. I have given idly recipe in my blog.
Preparation time approx 15 minutes
Soaking time 2 hours
Fermentation 7 to 8 hours
- Ingredients
- 1 cup moong dal
- 1 cup urad dal (dehusked whole).
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onions.
- 1/2 cup finely chopped palak or spinach.
- 1/2 cup grated carrots.
- 1/4 cup finely chopped cabbage. ( i used violet cabbage.)
- few chopped coriander leaves.
Method
Soak both the dals together for two hours.
Then, grind the dals in a mixer adding little water. Add salt.
Keep this batter for 8 hours for fermentation. Add a pinch of soda.
Mix well.
Now mix all vegetables to the batter.
Mix well.
Heat a dosa pan. Pour a laddle full of batter to hot pan and spread it. Spread it. I made little thick like oothappam.
If you wish you can add little seasame oil around dosa. Cover and cook. When one side is done flip the dosa and cook the other side.
Take out when it has become brown. Serve with any chutney or sauce or ketchup.
I will give it a try. Thanks for sharing.
