I have visited Bahrain farmers market and bought different colours of capsicum from there. I was confused what to make with this capsicum. Today i tried yellow capsicumm chutney which can go very well with Idly, Dosa, Puri, Parathas ect.It is very simple to make this spicy chutney. We can make this chutney in 3 different way. I have baked the capsicum and used to make chutney. In the same time we can saute the capsicum with little oil or we can cook the capsicum directly on fire and use. Let us see how to make this simple chutney with in 15 to 20 minutes.
Preparation time approx 15 to 20 minutes.
Ingredients.
- 2 big size yellow capsicum. ( we can use any coclour)
- 1 chopped onion.
- 1/2 tsp urad daal.
- 1/2 tsp channa daal
- 6 green chillies.
- a small piece if ginger.
- 2 tbsp grated coconut. ( optional)
- 2 tbsp fried gram.
- salt to taste.
- A small piece of tamarind.
- 1 tbsp oil for frying.
For seasoning.
- 1 tbsp cooking oil.
- 1/2 tsp mustard seeds.
- 1/2 tsp channa daal.
- 1/2 tsp urad daal.
- 1/4 spoon asafoetida.
- few curry leaves.
Method.
Chop the capsicum and bake for 10 minutes at 180 degree. or saute the capsicum with little oil. or insert a stick and cook directly on fire and keep aside.
Heat oil and add urad and channa daal. Let it become brown then add tamarind ,chopped ginger and green chilly. Saute. Add chopped onion saute for few seconds.
Remove. Allow it to cool . Now grind all the ingredients adding very little water. I like thick chutney. If you want little loose add little more water.
Heat oil. Add mustard seeds, when it started spluttering add channa and urad daal. Let it become brown. Add asafoetida and curry leaves.
