nendran pazham halwa or plantain halwa

Being a keralite we have lot of nendran pzham at my home garden . I love this banana in any form. I tried this halwa for navrathri festival. It is very easy to make with very few items. Let us see how to make this,

Preparation time approx 20 to 25 minutes.

Ingredients.

  • 3 riped plantain,
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar. ( we can use normal sugar also)
  • 2 tbsp wheat flour.
  • 4 tbsp ghee or clarified butter.
  • 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
  • few broken cashewnuts.

Method.

Peel the skin of banana.

Grind this in to a fine paste.Keep aside.

Heat 1/2 tsp ghee and fry wheat flour till you get a good aroma. do not over fry. Take it out and keep aside.

Heat 1 more tsp ghee and fry the cashew nuts till it turns brown and keep aside.

Add 1 tbsp ghee and fry the ground banana for few seconds. Add fried wheat flour and brown sugar. Keep the stove on medium fire and fry . When it come in to thick lump add the remaining ghee and fry.

It will come as a thick lump. Now add cardamom powder and cashewnuts, Mix well.

Put this in a greased tray .Let it become cool.

Now you can cut this in to any shape.
