Bisible bath is a popular rice dish from Karnataka. Today i am giving the traditional method of making masala powder to make bisibele bath.I learnt this recipe from one of my neighbour from Bangalore in 1980’s.  This powder is a  a blend of few spices. Once you make this and store ,it is easy to make this rice dish for lunch box or dinner. We can store this for 6 months in the fridge. The aroma of the masala powder will invite every one to  taste bisibele bath. Let us see how to make this powder.

  • 2 tbsp poppy seeds.
  • 1 tbsp jeera,
  • 1/4 tsp methi seeds.
  • 30 byadagi chillies( if you dont have this type of chillies opt for kashmiri chillies. This chillies are added for getting better colour to the powder.)
  • 25 gundur chilles.( adjust chillies according to your taste. This chillies will give more spicy flavour to the powder.)

In the same pan fry coriander seeds separately till you are getting good aroma. Take out. Fry poppy seeds and take out.

Fry both the chillies till it is crispy on medium fire. Take care not to burn this. It will the change the color of powder.

At last fry dry coconut till it become brown on medium fire.

Let everything become cool. Powder all the spices except coconut.

Once everything is powder very well add coconut and grind for few seconds.

If you are grinding coconut  for more time  oil will separate from coconut. It will spoil the powder.
