Broccoli is rich in vitamin C, K and calcium.
I have made koottu with broccoli adding moong daal. We can have this rice, roti, dosa etc. It will take 15 to 20 minutes only to make this no onion garlic curry.
Let us see how to make this easy dish.
Preparation time approx. 20 minutes.
Ingredients.
1 small broccoli cut into florets.
1/3 cup cooked moong daal.
3 tbsp grated fresh coconut.
1/4 tsp jeera
4 green chillies ( adjust according to your taste)
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
Salt to taste
For seasoning.
1 tbsp oil
1/2 tsp mustard seeds.
1/2 tsp channa daal
1/2 tsp urad daal.
1 red chilly.
Few curry leaves.
1/ 4 tsp asafoetida.
Method.
Take a pan add 1/2 spoon oil. Saute the broccoli. Add salt and turmeric powder.
In the meantime grind coconut, jeera and green chillies in to a paste adding little water.
When broccoli is cooked add cooked moong daal. Add little water. Cook for a minute. Add coconut masala. Add water and adjust the consistency. Cook for a minute. Switch off stove.
Heat oil. Add mustard seeds. Let it crackle. Add both dalls. Let it turn in to brown colour. Add curry leaves ,red chilly and asafoetida. Pour this over koottu. Serve with hot rice, paratha, roti, dosa etc.
Option.
You can add 1 tomato and onion when frying broccoli .

A healthy alternative to the regular kootu. Looks delicious and appealing Chithra
