Mulaga bhaji or chilly bhaji.
Mulaga bhaji is very popular tea time snack of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
The chillies used are non-spicy. You get them at any supermarket.
Applied some tamarind masala inside these chillies for better taste. Let us go through the recipe step by step.
Ingredients
- 6 long chillies. (Without spicy)
- 300 gram besan flour
- 100 gram rice flour
- Chilly powder.according to taste.
- Salt to taste
- A pinch of cooking soda.
- Oil for deep frying.
Mix all the above ingredients and then add water. The batter should be like idly batter consistency (not thick/not loose).
For the tamarind paste:
Soak a marble size of tamarind in water.
Squeeze out the thick juice.Or a simpler way is to use tamarind paste.
Add little salt, 1/4 spoon dhaniya jeera powder, 1 spoon chat masala or garam masala.
Mix all these in the tamarind juice.
Method:
Slit the chillies, take care not to cut the chillies into half.
Remove the all the seeds.
Apply this tamarind masala inside chillies.
Heat oil in a kadai or pan.
When it is hot dip the chillies in the besan batter and put in the hot oil.
Reduce the flame.
Fry till golden colour.
