I have got some green tomatoes or pacha thakkali from my balcony garden. Aviyal is one of the popular dish from Kerala and Tamil nadu. Aviyal is made with many country vegetables. Today here i made aviyal with green tomatoes alone. My tomatoes are not very sour. Select tomatoes which are less sour. It goes very well with plain rice, adai, dosai etc.. Let us see how to make this.
Preparation time approx. 15 minutes.
- 200 grams green tomatoes.
- 1/4 cup fresh grated coconut
- 5 green chillies.( adjust according to taste)
- 1/2 tsp jeera.
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- salt to taste
- 2 tsp coconut oil.
- few curry leaves.
Cut the green or pacha tomato in to pieces.
Add 1 cup of water, salt, and turmetric powder.
Let it cook. In the mean time grind coconut, jeera and green chillies. Make a fine paste adding little water.
When the tomatoes are cooked add the ground coconut paste. Add curry leaves and coconut oil. Boil this and switch off the stove.
Serve this with plain rice.
