Phool makhana or lotus seeds also known as Fox nuts. Health benifits of makhana are many. It helps to reduce weight,.It act as an anti ageing agent. They are also gluten-free, protein-rich . Makhana is one of the popular fasting food in many households. Today i tried a side dish for roti with makhana.It is very simple and easy side dish for any Indian bread. Let us see how to make this.
Preparation time approx. 30 minutes.
Ingrdients.
- 2 Cups of phool makaha or lotus seeds.
- 2 bog size ot 3 small tomatoes.
- 1 onions chopped.
- 6 cashewnuts.
- 1tsp ginger garlic paste. ( optional).
- 1tsp red chilly powder.
- 1 tsp coriander powder.
- 1 tsp garam masla.
- 1/2 tsp kasturi methi.
- salt to taste.
- 2 to 3 tbsp frsh milk or 1 tbsp cream
- 1 tsp jeera.
- 1 tbsp ghee or oil.
- few chopped coriander leaves.
Method.
Measure phool makahana and keep aside.
Chop the tomatoes, onions. In a pressure cooker add tomatoes, onions, ginger garlic paste, cashew nuts, coriander powder, salt, garam masala and red chilly powder. Add 1 cup of water and pressure cook for 2 whistles. Remove from stove.
Let it come to room temparature.
Grind these in to a paste and keep aside.
In a nonstic pan add ghee or oil. When it is hot add jeera.Fry for few seconds .
Now add the ground tomato, onion paste. Add salt. Cover cook. Let it cook for 5 minutes. When the sauce become thick add milk or cream.
Take care not to split. Stir well. Let the mixture boil then add kasturi methi . Mix well.
Now add mahkana little by little as shown below.
Mix well and remove from stove. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
Serve with any Indian bread.
