Maladoo is one of the favourite sweet in my family.In southern part of Kerala for engagement ceremony Maladoo is made as ritual
Preparation time is 20 minutes
- 1 cup pottukkadalai or fried gram
- 1 1/4 cup sugar (adjust sweet according to your taste)
- 1 tsp powdered cardamom
- 1/2 cup melted ghee
- 6 cashew nuts
In a mixer powder 1 cup fried gram or pottukadalai (Tamil) and sugar nicely.
In a bowl put the grounded fried gram and sugar- add 1 tsp cardamom powder. Break the cashew nuts in to small pieces and fry in little ghee till golden color.
Add this to fried gram,sugar mixture
Add melted ghee little by little. Mix it well.Try to make small balls out of it.If you are not able to shape it in to balls add more ghee and try.Make sure it does not break when you are making it.
Do not add more ghee as it will be sticky.
