Murmura or Pori Upuma

Murmura or Pori upuma is one of the easiest snacks for all.

Preparation time: Approx 10 to 12 minutes


1 tbsp oil

1/2 tsp mustard

1/2 tsp channa dhal

1/2 tsp urad dhal.

A small piece of chopped ginger

1 chopped green chilly

1/4 tsp turmeric powder

1 stem curry leaves.

1/2 spoon red chilly powder.

2 cups murmura or pori

1 medium size chopped onion

1/2 cup roasted and crushed peanuts

1 tsp lemon juice


Heat oil in a pan.

Add mustard. When it starts crackling add channa dhal and urad dhal. Saute till it turns into brown. Add chopped ginger and green chilly,curry leaves,red chilly powder and then add chopped onion and saute.

In the meantime in a big bowl take plenty of water and add pori. Strain the water immediately.

Add the pori to onion and mix well.

Add salt, turmeric powder and saute.

Add crushed peanuts.

Switch off gas and add lemon juice and chopped dhaniya leaves and mix thoroughly.

serve immediately.
