Verum Arisi Dosa or Dosa without dhal:
Verum arisi adai means dosa made with rice. There are many variety of dosas. For this dosa we are not using urad dhal like normal dosa. No need of fermentation also. I made this dosa with idly rice or parboiled rice and coconut. To this added drumstickleaves which is full of iron. My gradma make this dosa little thicker. But my children like thin crispy dosas.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups Boiled rice or Idly rice
- 1 cup fresh grated coconut
- 1 cup drumstick leaves
- Salt
- Oil for making dosa
Method:
Soak boiled rice for 4 hours
Coarsely grind with grated coconut. Add little water. It should be thick in consistency
Do not grind into fine paste.
Add salt.
Mix 1/4 cup of water with 1 tbsp batter boil this in slow flame.
It will become very thickpaste.
Add this paste to the rice and coconut batter.
If we are not doing this step we will get white patches on dosa.
Mix washed cleaned drumstick leaves. Add water according to the consistency of the batter
Heat dosa pan pour the batter. Add little oil around dosa.when the below part is cooked flip it.
Add little more oil. Cook till crispy.
If you want more crispy dosa add more water and make.
If you are making with thick batter you need to add more oil for crispy dosa.
You can substitute ghee for oil.
