Mor kuzh

One of the traditional evening snack which is very healthy,very popular from Tamilians.
I have never tasted this snack being from southern Kerala till my marriage . My in laws are from palakkad. I have tasted this snack after marriage only. I loved this.My husbands grand mother used to make this. But slightly different method. She used to soak the rice and grind it then fermented it and  make the mor kuz. Once fermented no need of buttermilk.But fermentation need time. We cannot make it immediately.. Mor means buttermilk in tamil. This snack is a mix of buttermilk and rice flower with some seasonings. For easy method and to make instantly  I used Idiyappam powder . We can use normal rice flour also. Idiyappam powder is available everywhere and in  different brands in the market. We can use any brand. Let us see how to make this. It will take only 8 to 10 minutes to make this snack.
Preparationtime approx 10 minutes

• Ingredients:
• 1 cup idiyappam powder or rice flour
• 11/2 cup curd.
• 11/2 cup water
• For seasoning
• 3 red chillies cut into small pieces
• 1/2 tsp mustard
• 1/2 tsp urad dhal
• 1/2tspchanna dhal

• 1 tsp coconut oil
• few curry leaves
• a pinch of asafotedia

Method:

Mix idiyappam flour ,buttermilk,water and salt without any lumps. keep aside.

In a pan add mustard. When it started crackling add  channa dhal, urad dhal.Saute. when it turned brown add curry leaves ,red chillies and asafotedia.

Add buttermilk and rice mixture.

stir well. lumps may form . dont leave the mixture. keep on stirring.

 

It will become a dough consistency with in 5 minutes

stir well for few more minutes to cook the rice flour mixture.

Grease a tray with coconut oil.

Once the mixture is cooked spread on a greased try.

Keep it to cool

Cut into desired slices

Arrange in a plate.
