Kodubale or spicy ring rolls:
One of the traditional snack which is very famous in Karnataka.It goes very well with a hot cup of coffee or tea. Kodu bele is a spicy, crunchy,crispy, ring shape rolls made with rice flour, maida, chutney dhal, red chillies, green chillies, hing, coconut and curry leaves. There is no need of any press to make this. I tried this recipe many times. Let us see how to make this.
Preparation time approx 45 to 1 hour:
Ingredients:
- 1 heaped cup rice flour
- 1/2 cup all purpose flour or maida.
- 1/4cup chutney dhal( roasted channa dhal)
- 1/2 heaped cup coconut gratings
- 9 red chillies
- 3 green chillies
- 1/4 spoon asafotedia
- 1 string curry leaves
- 1 tbsp butter or oil
- Salt to taste
- Water to mix
- Oil for deep frying
Method:
Dry fry maida or all purpose flour for 1 minute.
Powder chutney dhal.( roasted channa dhal)
Grind coconut, red chilies, green chillies into paste adding little water.
Reduce or increase the red chillies and green chillies according to your taste.
In a big bowl mix rice flour, maida, coconut paste, chutney dhal powder, asafotedia,salt, chopped curry leaves, butter. Mix with hands.
Add little water and make a soft dough.
Take a small potion from dough and roll it.
Make long strip shape.
Join both the ends
Keep. Make full dough like this.
Heat oil in a pan.
Add some kodubele in hot oil. Reduce flame.
Flip the kodubale. Fry till it is done. Bubbles in the oil will stop.
Store in a air tight container.
We can keep for some days in airtight container.
