Kaliyappam

30 years ago I learnt this recipe from my husband’s grand mother. I learnt this recipe from her. My husband’s grand ma used to make this healthy easy spicy yummy recipe after her Ekadasi fasting. On dwadasi day she will have this kaliyappam with hot rice.

Kaliyappam is nothing it is amla or nellikka mixed with coconut and chillies. With in 10 minutes we can make this. It can be eaten at anytime. Let us see how to make this nutritious dish.

Preparation time approx. 10 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 6 amla.
  • 4 tbsp grated fresh coconut
  • 3 green chillies
  • Salt to taste.

For seasoning

  • 1 tsp coconut oil
  • 1/2 tsp mustard
  • A pinch of methi seeds
  • A pinch of hing powder
  • Some curry leaves.

Method

Take out seed from amla. Crush with grated fresh coconut and chillies. Add salt to taste mix well.
Heat oil. Add mustard. When it started crackling add methi and curry leaves. Add hing and pour over amla. Mix well.
