Peanuts and shallots chutney

We love to have variety of chutneys for Idly, dosa, aappam, kozhukkattai, upuma, pongal etc. Peanuts and shallots are healthy option for any variety of dosa and Idly. I have used raw peanuts here. We can use without skin also. With in 10 minutes we can make this spicy yummy, healthy chutney. Let us see how to make it.

Preparation time approx 10 to 12 minutes.

Ingredients.

12 shallots (peeled)

1/4 cup peanuts. (With skin)

1 pod garlic ( optional)

Small piece of tamarind or 1/2 tsp paste.

1/4 tsp asafoetida

2 Kashmiri red chillies

2 spicy red chillies .

2 tbsp coconut scrapping (I used. You can skip this also)

Salt to taste.

For Seasoning.

1 tbsp oil

1/2 tsp mustard seeds

1 tsp urad daal

Few curry leaves.

Method.

In a pan heat 1/2 tsp oil. Roast the peanuts well . Add red chillies. If you don’t have kashmiri red chillies omit this. Kashmiri red chillies are only for better colour.

Fry it. Add peeled chopped shallots, garlic, coconut scrapping, tamarind and asafoetida. Fry this for a minute. Add salt.

Let this come to room temparature.

Grind this adding little water. Grind coarsely. Do not make a fine paste. Taste will differ .

Heat a pan add oil. When it is hot add mustard seeds. Let it crackle. Add urad daal and curry leaves. When urad daal becomes red pour it over the chutney.
