Oats vegetable upuma

Oats have many health benefits. These include weight loss, lower blood sugar levels, and a reduced risk of heart disease.

Oats dishes makes you fuller for longer time. Thus it’s good for weight loss .

Today I tried oats upuma loaded with lot of vegetables. You can add greens or any vegetable of your choice. I used rolled oats/ old fashioned oats which is good for weight loss.

Let us see how to make this easy ,healthy breakfast.

Preparation time approx. 15 minutes.


1 cup rolled oats.

1/4 cup finely chopped / grated carrots

1/4 finely chopped cabbage.

1/4 cup chopped beans.

1/2 cup finely chopped onion.

1/4 cup peas( I used frozen peas)

3 tbso chopped capsicum

4 finely chopped green chillies.

1tsp grated ginger.

1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves.

Few chopped curry leaves.S

Salt to taste.

For seasoning.

1 tbsp oil.

1/2 tsp mustard seeds.

1 tsp channa daal

1 tsp urad daal

1 cup water.


Dry fry the oasts for 2 minutes. Keep aside.

Finely chop the vegetables.

In the mean time was the outs nicely soak this for exactly 5 minutes. Do not soak for longer time. After 5 minutes strain thisand keep aside.

Heat a pan add oil. When itis hot add mustard seeds. Let it splutter. Add both daals. Fry this. Let it become brown. Add chopped green chillies, ginger,curry leaves. Saute this till raw smell goes.

Now add chopped onions. Saute till it turns shiny. Add all vegetables one by one. Add salt. Fry all these on low fire for few minutes. Close it with a lid. Let it cook. Inbetween saute . When it is 3/4th done add water.

When water started boiling add the oats. Close it with a lid. Cook on low fire. When water evaporates add chopped coriander leaves. Mix well. Cook for 1 more minute. Now keep it open. After a minute serve.

If you wish you can eat this with any chutney.
