Ragi Dosa and Idly:
Ragi or finger Millet or Nachni (in hindi) is very nutrious healthy food. We can make variety of foods from Ragi. Ragi dishes by look not much attractive but very good for health conscious people. I made ragi dosa for breakfast. If we are making the batter earlier and store we can make idli, dosa, Oothappam, masala dosa from the same batter. Let us learn how to make this.Sambar or any kind of chutney goes well with Idly and dosa.
Preparation time approx 8 hours for fermentation:
For dosa varities 3 minutes:
For making Idly: 15 mnts
- 4 cups Ragi powder ( store bought)
- 1 cup whole white urad dhal
- seasoning for dosa
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1/2 tsp mustard
- 1/2 tsp urad dhal
- 1/2 tsp channa dhal
- 1 red chilly
- curry leaves
Soak urad dhal for 2 hours. Grind smoothly.
If you are using mixi for grinding urad dhal the ratio — for 4cups of Ragi powder add 1 urad dhal . Add salt. Mix it Well. Keep this over night for fermentation.
If you are using wet grinder
the ratio — use 5 cups of Ragi powder and 1 cup of urad dhal . Add salt. Mix it well. Keep this over night for fermentation
Now you can make idly on the first day.
No need of seasoning for Idly.
Dosa or masala dosa can make from first day itself.
Heat oil add mustard when it started crakle add urad and channa dhal when it become breown add red chilli and curry leaves pour over dosa.
When the batter become sour you can make oothappam of your choice.
