Parippu vada:
Parippu vada is a very popular snack of Kerala . Parippu vada and a hot cup of tea or coffee is a good combo on a rainy or cold day .Parippu vada is very crispy and crunchy and spicy. Very easy to make. Let us see how to make this crispy vada.For making this vada I used yellow split dhal.It is avilable in all grocery shops.In Kerala we are telling parippu vada. In tamil nadu its called paruppu vada.
If this dhal is not available you can use thuar dhal.
Preparation time approx 1 hour including soaking time.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup yellow split dhal
- 8 red chillies
- a small piece of stone asafotedia soaked in 2 tbsp hot water
- shallots 15
- salt to tase
- curry leaves
- Oil for deep frying.
Method:
Soak yellow split dhal and red chillies for 30 minutes.
soak asafotedia in 2 tbsp water.
Peel shallots and cut it into very small pieces.
Strain full water from dhal .
In a small mixi jar put the dhal and red chilles. just crush the dhal. Do not make in to a paste.Use soaked asafotedia water to grind.
Put the crushed paste in to a bowl.
Add chopped curry leaves, shallot pieces and salt.
Make round shape vadas.
In a frying pan heat oil. In medium flame deep fry all the vadas.
