Yet another popular breakfast item of south india. Lemon Semiya Upuma is very easy to prepare . There are many variety of upumas. Today we will learn how to make lemon semiya. Coconut chutney is an excellent combo for this upuma.
preparatiome approx 20 minutes
- 2 cup broken semiya
- 3 or 4 green chillies. ( adjust according to your taste)
- 1/2 spoon crushed ginger
- Pinch of asofotedia
- 1 lemon
- 1/2 spoon turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- Dhaniya leaves to garnish
- For seasoning
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1/2 spoon mustard
- 1/2 spoon urad dhal
- 1/2 spoon channa dhal
- Few curry leaves.
In frying pan add 1/2 spoon ghee or oil fry the broken semiya. Not to change the color.
In a big vessel add 2 liter of water add salt . Boil it. Add the fried semiya and cook
When it is cooked strain the water.
Wash the semiya with water. Strain and keep
In a pan add 1 tsp oil .when it is hot add mustard seeds and when it started crackle add urad and channa dhal. Let it become brown, add chopped chillies and crushed ginger asafotedia and curry leaves.Fry for few seconds.
Take out the pan from stove add turmeric powder.Otherwise turmeric color will change.
Now add the cooked semiya . In medium fire mix everything. Switch off the stove.
Add lemon juice. And dhaniya leaves. Mix well.
Options. Add chopped onions after seasoning.fry for a minute then add frozen peas and cook. Then add the semiya.
