Oats are very low calorie food which is a good option for weight loss I have been trying to experiment different dishes with oats being the main ingredient.
I tried my hand at a new type of dosa with oats and dals topped with drumstick leaves
Drumstick or moringa leaves are good for cholesterol, and it prevents diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, anemia, arthritis, liver disease, and respiratory, skin disease. I always use drumstick leaves once in a week in my cooking.
Let us see how to make this easy nutritious dosa.We need not ferment this batter. We can use it instantly.
Preparation time approx 15 minutes.
Soaking time 2 to 3 hours.
Ingredients.
- 1 cup oats. ( any variety we can use)
- 1/4 cup whole black urad dal.( with skin)
- 1/4 cup tuar dal
- 1/4 cup channa dal
- 4 tbsp masoor dal
- 4 tbsp moong dal
- 1 cup tightly packed drumstick leaves.
- 1/2 tbsp whole pepper
- 4 green chillies.( adjust according to your taste)
- 2 red chilly.
- 1/2 tsp asafoetida or a small piece of stone asafoetoda .
- salt to taste.
- little thil oil for making dosa.( you can use any oil )
Method.
Soak all the dal together for 2 to 3 hours. If you are sing stone asafoetida soak in little water.
Grind all the dals and asafoetida, red chillies, green chillies and pepper together. Add little water. Grind coarsely.
Add oats and grind for very few seconds.Add salt and mix well.If you are using powder asafoetida mix now. Now add drumstick leaves and mix it.
If you want very thin crispy dosa you can add more water and make dosa.
If you like thick crispy dosa do not add much water.
Heat a dosa pan sprinkle little oil.
Pour a laddle full of batter and spread it.
Pour little oil ( I used thil oil which taste better) over the dosa.
When one side is cooked flip the dosa and cook till it is crispy.
Any kind of chutney or jaggery is best combo for this.
