Peanut Chutney

Peanut Chutney.

This is one of the most simple chutney to prepare. Peanut chutney is a perfect side dish for Idly , Dosa varieties .Let us see how to make this simple side dish.

Preparing time approx. 15 minutes.


  • 1/4 cup peanuts
  • 1 onion
  • 1 pod garlic
  • 1 tbsp coconut
  • 8 red chillies ( adjust according to taste)
  • Small piece of tamarind
  • salt to taste


  • 1 tsp oil.
  • 1/2 tsp mustard
  • 1/2 tsp urad dal.
  • 1/2 tsp channa dal
  • 1/4 tsp hing
  • 1 red chilly
  • some curry leaves.


In a frying pan dry roast peanuts. Take out and put in the mixi jar. Add 1 tsp oil to pan and fry red chillies without burning. Take out this. In the same oil fry garlic pod saute. Now add chopped onions and fry for few seconds. No need to turn colour. Just raw smell should go.Take out this. Fry tamarind piece. add grated coconut. just saute for few seconds. Now let it cool. Add salt and little water. Make a  paste of this. Do not make in to very smooth paste.

Heat oil for seasoning. Add mustard. Let it crackle. Now add urad dal and channa dal. Let it fry till golden color. Now add  red chilly,hing and curry leaves . Pour over the chutney.
