Home made tawa naan is very easy when I follow Mr. Ramakrishnan’s autolysis method. Mr. Ramakrishnan is the founder of OPOS method of cooking and autolysis method of making roti’s. Today I tried to make wheat flour tawa naan . I have added little all purpose flour for the softness. If you want to avoid all purpose flour, add wheat flower instead.
Let us see how to make this tawa naan.
Preparation time approx 30 minutes.
Resting time approx 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
- 2 cups of wheat flour
- 1/2 cup all purpose flour
- 1/4cup thick buttermilk. . (I used laban )
- 1 cup little warm water.
- 1/2 tsp soda
- Salt to taste.
- 1 tbsp oilIn a vessel add warm water, laban or buttermilk.
Add salt,soda,oil. Mix.
Add 2 cups of wheat flour and 1/2 cup all purpose flour.
Mix with fork.
It will become like a sand. Do not knead with hands now.
Keep for 30 minutes.
Open the dough and mix with hands. No need of hitting or kneading hardly. Just make little smooth dough.
I kept for an hour.
Take a small ball size dough and dust in wheat flour ,
Roll it little thicker than normal chappathis.
Heat aluminium tawa.
Apply water on one side of the naan.
Put the water applied side of naan on hot tawa.
It will puff up with in few seconds.
Then turn the tawa directly on fire. Roate tawa to cook the naan equally
Take out apply butter.
Sprinkle little coriander leaves for garnishing.
