Paruppu usili is a popular side dish of tamil brahmins. It is a cobination of daal and vegetables. Banana flower, Broad beans, Cluster beans and french beans are commnly used vegetables to make this type of curry. Let us see how to make this.
Preparation time 30 to 35 minutes.
Soaking time 30 to 40 minutes.
Ingredients.
- 300 to 400 grams of french beans
- 2 tbsp thuar daal
- 2 tbsp channa daal
- 6 to 7 red chillies ( according to your taste)
- 1/2 tsp asafoetida.
- salt to taste.
- few curry leaves.
for seasoning.
- 2 tsp oil..( i used coconut oil.)
- 1/2 tsp mustard seeds.
- 1/2 tsp urad daal
- 1/2 tsp channa daal.
- Method.
Cut the beans in to very small pieces.
Soak channa daal and thuar daal and red chillies together for 30 to 40 minutes. Grind the daals with red chillies, little salt and asafoetida with out adding water. No need of making it into very fine paste. Keep aside.
Cook the beans and keep aside.
Make the daals in to small balls and steam cook it for 10 to 15 minutes.
Take it out . Let it cool for little time. Crumble it .
Heat tawa and add 1tbsp oil. Add crumbles dall and fry for a few seconds. When it became non sticky take out. If you feel it is lumpy pulse it for few seconds. It will become sandy form.
Heat the tawa and add 1 tbsp oil. Add mustard seeds. Let it crackle. Now add urad and channa daal. When it became brown add curry leaves.
Now add the cooked beans. Add salt only for beans. Saute a for a while and add daal mixture. Mix well.
Serve as side dish for rice.
