Beetroot pulao is very easy to make and tasty. With very few ingredients I made this pulao with in 20 minutes. Its an easy lunch box dish . Let us see how to make this easy pulao.
Preparation time approx 20 to 25 minutes.
soaking time 20 minutes.
Ingredients.
- 1 cup basmati rice. ( soak for 20 minutes)
- 1 medium size beetroot.( 1/2 beetroot cut in to pieces and 1/2 grated )
- 1 onion chopped
- 1 tomato chopped
- 4 to 5 green chillies
- 1/2 tsp ginger garlic paste
- for seasoning.
- 2 tsp ghee
- 1 tsp jeera
- a small piece cinnamon stick.
- 1 cardamom
- 3 cloves
- 1 bay leaf
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- salt to taste.
- few coriander leaves chopped
Method.
Soak the basmati rice for 20 to 25 minutes and keep aside.
Cut 1/2 beetroot in to pieces and half grated. Keep aside.
In pan add ghee . When it is hot add jeera, bay leaf, clove, cinnamon stick, cardamom . Fry for few seconds. Add chopped green chillies, add slices onions and fry. Now add ginger garlic paste. Fry till the raw smell goes. Add salt and tomatoes. Let it fry till the tomatoes become mushy. Now add the garam masala.
Now add grated beetroot.( In the mean time i cooked the other pieces of beetroot in and kept.)
Saute this for few seconds or till the raw smell goes. Add cooked beetroot pieces and mix well. Now add the rice and mix it.
Add 2 cups of water and cover cook .or pressure cook for 3 whistles.
Garnish with coriander leaves and serve.
