Moong daal is very light and high in protein. One of the most significant benifits of moong daal is its role in facilitating weight loss. We can eat moong daal at night also because it is very light and easily diagestable. Oats are rich in fiber and easily diagestable. This kichadi is good for weight loss and it is very filling also. We can make this with in 10 minutes. I have added some vegetables to this . Let us see how to make this.
Preparation time approx 10 minutes.
Soaking time 30 minutes to 1 hour.
Ingredients.
- 3/4 cup of yellow moong daal.
- 3/4 cup of rolled oats or old fashioned oats.
- 1 chopped onion.
- 1 big size chopped tomato.
- 1/4 cup of chopped french beans
- 1/4 cup of cubed carrots.
- 1/4 cup of peas. ( i took frozen peas)
- 1/4 cup of corn kennels.
- 1 tbsp jeera
- 1/2 tsp asafoetida
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder.
- 5 green chillies finely chopped ( adjust according to your taste).
- 1 tsp chopped ginger
- few chopped curry leaves
- few chopped coriander leaves.
- 1 tbsp ghee or any oil of your choice.
- 1 red chilly.
Method.
Soak the moong daal for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
In a pressure cooker dry roast oats for 1 or 2 minutes and take out.
Add ghee or oil in a pressure cooker. When it is hot add jeera and red chilly fry till it is roasted and add chopped ginger, chopped green chillies and chopped curry leaves. Saute for few seconds and add chopped onions. Fry it till it turns glazy. Add asafoetida. Add chopped tomatoes. Fry till it turns mushy. Add turmeric powder. Mix well. Now add all veggies. Add salt and saute. Add daal and oats mix well.
Add 4 cups of water. Mix well and pressure cook for 3 whistles. When the steam goes open and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
No need of side dish.
You can can use any vegetables or greens of your choice.
