Suji / Rava/ Semolina balls.

Suji ball is one of the easy, yummy , steamed breakfast dish made with suji / rava. It is very healthy and a perfect lunch box dish also. We are not using much oil . Once it is made it will be spongy for long hours. You can add beetroot juice, carrot juice for more colourful balls. There is no need of any chutney or side dish. Let us see how to make this easy dish.

Preparation time approx…30 minutes.

Ingredients.

1 cup suji/ rava/ semolina.

3 chopped green chillies

Few chopped curry leaves.

1 tbsp oil.

Salt to taste.

Seasoning.

1tbsp oil.

1/2tsp mustard seeds

1 tsp urad daal

1 tsp channa daal.

1/2 tsp chilli powder

1/4 tsp turmeric powder.

Chopped curry leaves.

Little asafoetida powder.

2 1/2 cup water.

Coriander leaves for garnishing.

Method.

In a kadai heat 1 tbsp oil and add chopped green chillie and curry leaves. Saute this and add suji. Fry till good aroma comes.

In the mean time boil 21/2 cup of water. Add enough salt. Boil. Add this boiling water to fried rava and mix well.

Close it with a lid. After a minute open and mix well. Full water should go and rava the batter should be smooth.

Keep this aside . Once it is cool make small balls.

In cooker/ steamer boil water. Arrange the balls in steamer. Cover it with a lid and steam cook for 6 to 7 minutes.

Keep a pan on stove. Add oil. Once it is hot add mustard seeds. Let it start crackling now add both daals. Fry till it is brown. Keep the stove on low add turmeric powder, chilly powder and curry leaves. Make sure it should not burn.

Now add all suji balls slowly mix it to coat the masalas on suji balls.

Garnish with coriander leaves.
