Jowar flour is Cholam in tamil . It’s a gluten free millet which is high in protein and fiber. Jowar is one ofthe healthy millet for weight loss. It makes you full for longer time. Today I made idiyappam which is a steamed food. You can make any side dish like sothi, black channa curry or any chutney, stew etc. Let us see how to make this.
Preparation time approx. 30 minutes.
1 cup jowar flour.
1 tsp oil.
Salt to taste.
Dry fry the jowar flour till it is warm. Take out put in a bowl. Add salt and oil. Mix well.
In the mean time boil 2 cups of water. When it started boiling add 1/ 2 cup of water to flour and mix well. Mix with a spoon. When you are able to touch with hands mix the dough adding enough water. Make smooth dough. .
Apply little oil inside the idiyappam making press. Put the dough in the press.
Apply oil to idly plates. Boil water in idly cooker.
Press the idiyappam on greased idly plate and steam it for 10 minutes.
When cool remove and serve with any curry of your choice.
